Minuscule

The tip I picked up on writing while traveling around the internet this week, was to frame everything inside a one-inch frame. Look for the detail, the minuscule (nothing to do with my favourite animation, but had to add the link ).

Look for the detail, focus on the narrow. Put them all together and there’s the story. Divide each scene into a grid of tight panels and write about each part. Peer down to the pixel level to see if there is anything there. See the contrast, see the differences. See the minutiae and evoke its sense of meaning in the entire story. Because each story is a sum of parts and the job of the writer is to describe these parts to paint the story.

And not just writing. In presenting as well. Each presentation is a presentation of parts that in the end make up a whole.
